Getting engaged is such an exciting time. However, the exhilaration of saying “I will” can quickly be replaced by the overwhelming concerns surrounding planning a wedding.

Depending on your planning personality, you may be excited about choosing your color scheme, or positively terrified. If you are a Functional or Bewildered personality, fear not. These next tips will help making your color scheme choices a little bit easier. You may actually enjoy it! You Savvy and Visionary brides might get some helpful tips, too.

You can get inspiration for your color scheme in so many places. For example, do you have a favorite outfit? What does the décor in your house look like? These are two good places to start.

If that doesn’t work for you, try shopping around in a home décor store. You can find your ideal color scheme sitting right on the shelves. Look at pillows, dishes, area rugs, and linens to get some ideas.

If you want to try to make your own creation, use a color wheel, or visit websites with color schemes. Pantone always chooses a selection of “in” colors, as well as a color of the year. The website gives great suggestions on how to blend the colors to make something wonderful. And

When making your wedding color choices, keep in mind what design elements you will be using, i.e. bridesmaids’ dresses, linens, lighting, flowers, invitations, and other accessories. All of these are great ways to bring your signature colors into your special day.
